Beyond repair?

First of all, wow! The place has summer season gone? How can it quite possibly be September now???

This is only going to be a limited website, but I just needed to share a little mend work that I have been operating on these days. The client initially despatched me an electronic mail a few weeks in the past, as she’d been explained to by a significant avenue jeweller that her sentimental gold costume ring, was not equipped to be resized. Que that minimal evil little bit in my brain that just would like to show them incorrect and clearly show that it IS feasible, and voila! One particular resized garnet and pearl costume ring. Of course, it IS a delicate ring, so she’s not heading to be in a position to don it each day, but at least it now CAN be worn, instead than currently being destined to sit in a box permanently!

The ring in question - so beautiful!

The ring in query – so lovely!

It is 9ct gold, established with garnets and pearls and is extremely sensitive, but certainly not past maintenance. It is a “dress ring” and will by no means have been supposed to be worn all of the time.

The ring shank has some fragile engraving all all over it, and for the reason that it’s a incredibly tiny ring, the hallmark took up most of the out there house, so I experienced to pick in which to make the slice very very carefully.

Adding the new gold

Adding the new gold

It is all thanks to my Dado laser welder here. It intended that I could insert in a new area of gold and “weld” it in put devoid of risking heating (and ruining!) the pearls.

Cleaning up

After the new piece of gold was welded, it was just a circumstance of pretty meticulously cleaning up the joins.

Not forgetting the inside.

The newer gold alloy was a a bit unique color, but it’ll all blend in with a polish.

Ready to wear!

All set to use!

Yes, you can see the sign up for if you glance closely, but occasionally it’s not all about totally hiding the new element. This ring was about preservation and earning it wearable again.

Polished and ready for many more years!

Polished and prepared for several more several years!

A “very” thorough polish so as not to injury people delicate pearls, or to clear away to a great deal of the character. In my opinion, it is suitable for an antique to search as this kind of!
