Bangla literature is, in the eyes of many, underrated. Well-known Bangalee authors have specified us famous characters and extraordinary storylines that have captured the soul of Bangalee tradition and captured the creativeness of its viewers.

Some famous tales in Bangalee literature have talked about men and women who have a deep and religious link with jewellery. A photograph is well worth a thousand phrases and these authors spent multitudes and far more in describing jewelry perfectly ample to conjure photos in the minds of the visitors. 

Salma Zakia Bristy and Zubaida Arzu Shoma wished to craft these descriptions into actuality through their exhibition ‘Tanumodhya’, which is remaining held at Alliance Française de Dhaka’s La Galerie.

Bristy and Shoma have been both college students of High-quality Arts at Dhaka College. Even however they are not from the similar batch, they related by their very similar taste in artwork. Shoma admired Bristy’s artwork and mutual friendship blossomed. The two have collaborated for the to start with time for an exhibition like this, even even though each of them have participated in exhibitions independently in the previous. 

Salma Zakia Bristy’s inspiration is not just the tales she has study, but rather the act of interpretation and imagination one particular ought to interact in although looking at prose laden with imagery. There are some of the stories that are centred all around jewellery like Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Monihara’ where the major character contemplates putting her life on the line to protect  her jewels. People today often tend to have a deep relationship with their ornaments, in particular if its the final remaining vestige of a time long gone by.

“This exhibition is our interpretation of what all those authors were being describing in their fiction. We tried out to relate the feelings of Bangalee literature as a result of this display.” stated Salma Zakia Bristy who won the ‘Grand Award’ at the 18th Asian Artwork Biennale in 2018. 

“Equally of us would make ornaments in our spare time but not long ago, all-around 6 months back, we started out producing jewelry for this exhibition,” mentioned Shoma.
